NORWAY: 10 things you didn’t know about Eurovision’s Agnete

Icebreaker

‘Icebreaker’ by Agnete  was chosen at Melodi Grand Prix Norway to represent their country at Eurovision 2016 I Stockholm. Who is this lady and what is her background? We sourced 10 facts to help you get to know her better.

Agnete who? Her full name is Agnete Kristin Johnsen, born in Nesseby, Norway.

How old is she? Agnete was born on the fourth of July 1994, making her 22 years old.

Her star sign is Cancer (the crab). Sensitive, caring and with strong emotions. Something that obviously comes through in her singing.

Happy Birthday: Agnete shares her birthday with famous celebrities such as soul singer Bill Withers, actress Gina Lollobrigida and TV show host Geraldo Rivera.

Early start: Despite her young age, Agnete has already been involved in the music scene for several years, forming the punk band, The Blacksheeps with school friends in 2008. (I like her already!)

Eurovision: Agnete has already been heavily involved in Eurovision. The Blacksheeps entered and won Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2008 with their song, Oro jaska, beana. (It means ‘Be quiet, dog!’)

And that’s not all. The band also entered Melodi Grand Prix Nordic 2008 and won that too. Oro jaska, beana later topped the Norwegian charts at number one.

2011:  The Blacksheeps once again competed in Melodi Grand Prix with their song, ‘Dance Tonight’, placing second. The band split up soon after. 😦

Multi-talented: Agnete isn’t just a great singer and musician, she can dance too. In 2014, she competed in the Nordic version of Dancing With The Stars and won. Is there nothing this lady can’t do?

Single lady: Besides her work with The Blacksheeps, Agnete has already released three other singles before Icebreaker: Goin’ Insane (2013), Mama (2014) and Hurricane Lover (2015 – Carina Dahl feat. Agnete). I’m guessing it won’t be long until we see a full album from Agnete, especially if she can ‘Icebreak’ her way to a Eurovision win. Good luck, Agnete!
