“I’m very touched by the great feedback I received”
Today sees a positive story come from Melodifestivalen compared to the heartache felt by Anna Book yesterday following her disqualification from the contest.
Oscar Zia is no stranger to Melodifestivalen and following his début at the contest became a heart-throb in his native Sweden. So the decision to speak out about his sexuality is something that he struggled with and he opened up to QX magazine about his experience.
Zia says that he didn’t want to make a ‘big deal’ about coming out but also realised that
“it is good that we are told to inspire others to be true and honest to themselves and dare to say who you are.”
It then leads on to how his song for Melodifestivalen 2016 and how it reflects his life and his desire to be seen as ‘Human’ and to not use labels.
“Human is my personal story where I ask just why they should have to tell you this kind of thing, we are after all the same basically”
He further explains how he is not yet comfortable with the label of ‘Gay’ and is open and frank on the subject. You can read the full story HERE.
Bravo to Oscar!
