Another entry has been unveiled for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, this time from our friends in Serbia. They return to the Junior contest after a three-year absence, and it’s good to see them back.
The performer is 14-year old Emilija Djonin, and she hails from Vršac in the Vojvodina region of Serbia. No stranger to the big time, she finished runner-up on Serbia’s Got Talent in 2011. So Serbia is going for a strong pedigree.
The song, ‘Svet u mojim očima’, which means ‘The world in my eyes’, has co-written the song with Dragan Ilić and Nikola Čuturilo. Dragan was the keyboardist with the Serbian rock band Generacija 5 )not to be confused with a Yugoslav Eurovision entry Generacija 42). Nikola has also been involved with the Yugoslav and Serbian music industries for nearly 30 years.
Serbia’s best finish at JESC was third in 2007 and 2010. With their classy ballad they hope for big things in Malta in November.
