There have been reports that TVP (Poland’s National Broadcaster) had confirmed their decision at Eurovision 2015. However Eurovision Ireland has been in contact with TVP and their Eurovision delegation.
They have advised
“Decision about participation is not yet confirmed. Next week there will be an ESC Workshop. EBU usually asks the broadcasters about participation at the end of the year”.
So the news is to sit tight and an official decision will be made later in the year. Most importantly though is that no decision has been taken by TVP as of yet.
This year was a success for Poland as they returned to the contest following a 2 year absence and they qualified for the Grand Final. Donatan and Cleo have been highly successful in Poland following Eurovision winning several Music Awards – thus making the contest popular in Poland again. Poland also successfully hosted the Eurovision Young Dancers contest in 2013.
For many broadcasters the cost of participating at Eurovision has to be weighed up against the cost of home produced television shows.
Poland’s best result at Eurovision was their début in the contest in 1994 when Edyta Górniak sang ‘To nie ja’ and came second.
