Eurovision Winner Conchita Wurst is showing that her success at the contest has gone bigger and has captured the mainstream imagination of the public.
This week saw her being interviewed on both BBC programmes “The One Show” and “Newsnight” – two of the BBC’s flagship shows for popular and political culture.

Next up was the Political show “Newsnight” where Conchita spoke of her message of Tolerance and of her impact on the political stance of the Russian Government.
If one needed a sign that Conchita’s Eurovision win was not a flash in the pan or a musical one-off – it has been a long time since a Eurovision winner was invited onto mainstream cultural shows in the UK. This is being mirrored across other countries who are taking a much bigger interest in a Eurovision Winner than has been seen before.
Eurovision is no longer a dirty word or a guilty pleasure. It is moving back into mainstream culture where it needs to be to continue to be relevant and to grow.
What do you think?

I really do lover her, she holds herself so well and handles it all with dignity and humility. Well done Conchita.
