We just came across this little piece of Eurovision trivia for you. Do you remember Gary O’Shaughnessy who represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song contest in Copenhagen in 2001? He performed the song “Without You Love” – a highly underrated song.
Well you will never guess but Gary has a very well-known nephew who is already making a name for himself in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Yes Gary is uncle to Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice of Ireland Contestant and now Grand Finalist in the RTE song contest show “The Hit” – Ryan O’Shaughnessy.
We will be discussing Ryan tomorrow in our “Thursday Talent Search”, but for now we think that Ryan could be up against Eurovision Legend Johnny Logan in the Grand Final of “The Hit”, if Johnny maintains his lead in the Irish charts this week over Duke Special.
Ryan won last week’s heat of “The Hit” with the song “Who Do You Love” which debuted at #3 in the Irish Charts. See here
He outsold Eurovision Star Brian Kennedy in the process.
Now that has to be an omen for Ryan to enter Eurovision next year – Just ask your Uncle what the experience was like!
