Azerbaijan have received the maximum 12 points from the Mediterranean Island of Malta for the last 3 years in a row. They  hope to continue this trend in 2013 as today the Azeri hopeful, Farid Mammadov jets into Malta for the weekend for some promotion.

Farid will be appearing on two of Malta’s leading TV programs, Xarabank today and then on Hadd Ghalik on Sunday, where no doubt he will be performing his Eurovision Entry “Hold Me”. Links between the two countries took a massive step forward last year when Maltese Representative Kurt Calleja, became extremely popular in the host country. At the Azeri National Selection – Milli Sicim – where each semi finalist had to perform one of their favorite Eurovision Entries of all time every Monday – Kurt’s “This is the Night” was the most performed – on some occasions by more that one contestant on the same night.

As Azerbaijan and Malta are in the same semi final I am sure that Malta are hoping that Azerbaijan will return the compliment and award Gianluca 12 points. Fingers crossed
