Monday nights is always Eurovision Night on the Weekly Azeri National Eurovision Selection. This week the standard has jumped up another level and we potentially have a male solo singer making the final as the boys seem to have taken the game to the girls.

Fərid Həsənov – Euphoria

One of the few times I have seen a male singer take on Loreen’s winning Eurovision entry “Euphoria” and he does an amazing job. Young, boy band looks, a dancer with a great pop voice. A possible for this weeks win.

Aygül Məmmədova – Drip Drop

Aygül takes on the hard task of singing Safura.

Rüstəm Əlləzov – I Can

Rüstəm takes on Blue’s “I Can”

Nərminə Seyidova – L’Amore È Femmina (Out of love)

Nərminə takes on Nina from Italy last year. Full of soul a very good performance.

Davud Əsgərli – This is the night

Davud takes on Kurt from Malta last year. “This is the night” has been a popular choice in the Azeri search this season. A strong voice from Davud.

Çinarə İsmayılova – When the music dies

Çinarə takes on the home entry from 2012. Always difficult to do as people will make comparisons but Çinarə makes a good effort.

Fərid Məmmədov – Love is blind

Now we all remember Donny Montell’s one armed flip at Eurovision last year in Baku – well Fərid Məmmədov did an unassisted flip without missing a single note. Fərid has the moves, the voice, the looks and the charisma. Could be the winner – well the Azeri audience loved him.

Arzu Səlimova – Satellite

Arzu takes on Lena’s winning song from 2010 and certainly makes it her own. Poppy and charismatic on camera.

Mərdan Kazımov – Love

Last but my no means least Mərdan takes on Sasha’s from Lithuania 2009 entry and again puts in a faultless performance. Wonderful diction, singing and emotion in his performance. Again another contender.

I think this is the most difficult semi final to pick a winner. The boys seemed to have had the edge on Monday night so we will have to see.
