There are certain genres that often raise an eyebrow when they find their way into Eurovision. Schlager does well, and electronic dance music. And of course a quality banger. But then there are others…

Today’s birthday boy ნიკოლოზ ვალერიოვიჩი “ნიკა” კოჩაროვი/Nikoloz Valerieovich “Nika” Kocharov has done his stuff twice (to date) for his native Georgia. Both times he was a member of a band. He first tried for success in 2016 fronting the Young Georgian Lolitaz. Perhaps to the surprise of a lot of people, they made the final with their rock-genre song with an edgy lyric. Stuff that some of you may have tried at home. He tried again in 2022, under the interesting pseudonym Igor von Lichtenstein as part of Circus Mircus. Let’s just say they had less success with their even quirkier genre.
