ČT, the Czech national broadcaster, have announced they are facing funding cuts ahead of the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest and the 2027 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Liepāja.
The 2027 Eurovision Song Contest participation from ČT, is at risk. According to the ČT’s press department, no decision has yet been made regarding Czechia’s future in either competition. If ČT were to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest, they would continue with the internal selection of choosing the artist and song.
The 2027 Eurovision Young Musicians participation from ČT art, looks more promising. The Contest is a strategic pillar for ČT art’s programming, which uses this festival as its most prestigious international platform for classical music. Therefore, it is significantly a less expensive event compared to the Eurovision Song Contest. Therefore, ČT art would not consider budget cuts in this area.
