#BIRTHDAY: 4 June – Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson from Iceland is 23

It’s duo time! And with two singers you get double the chance of seeing what could be your favourite song played. And, for some, this will be their favorite song of all time.

We love it when people sing in (one of) their own languages, as it demonstrates how much diversity there is in Europe. One of those lesser-used languages these days is Icelandic. Luckily for us, today’s birthday boy Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson – one half of the popular beat combo Væb – gave us a showcase of his mother tongue. Obviously he was accompanied on equal terms by his younger brother Matthías Davíð Matthíasson, and it was frenetic, well choreographed and very crowd-pleasing. Watch the video, and you will feel worn out by the end. And the less said by their jury score in the Grand Final the better.
