
On the lead up to the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, which is been held in Turin, we are looking back at the countries participating in the Contest and their histories – past and present. Today we continue with Moldova’s story.
Moldova debuted at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, in Kyiv, Ukraine. Zdob și Zdub participated with “Boonika bate doba”, finishing in 6th place and 148 points.
Moldova have cracked the Top 5 just once. SunStroke Project represented Moldova at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, in Kyiv, Ukraine. They participated with “Hey, Mamma!”, finishing in 3rd place and 374 points.
Natalia Gordienko represented Moldova at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She participated with “Sugar”, finishing in 13th place and 115 points.
Zdob și Zdub and Frații Advahov will represent Moldova at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, in Turin, Italy. They will perform “Trenulețul”. Will they take Moldova’s first victory?
