#JESC21: Opening Ceremony Will Not Include Delegations

Following a decision between the European Broadcasting Union and France Télévisions, the Opening Ceremony for the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will not have any of the delegations in attendance. The Ceremony will still take place and will be streamed live on YouTube. During the Ceremony, it’ll determine which countries will open and close the Contest, as well as the position France will perform in the running order.

Alexandra Redde-Amiel, from France Télévisions, had the following to say:

“We have reflected well with the management of France Télévisions and the EBU: we will not do the opening ceremony as it is. We do not want to take the risk, on December 13, of having all the delegations come to one place.”
