Over the course of April and May, on the lead up to the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that are participating this year in Rotterdam. Today, we celebrate Lithuania.
Lithuania debuted at the Contest in 1994, in Dublin, Ireland. Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished in last and twenty fifth place with his entry “Lopšinė mylimai”, scoring the dreaded 0 points.
The most successful entry from Lithuania was in 2006, when the Contest took place in Athens, Greece. LT United finished in sixth place with their entry “We Are the Winners”, scoring 162 points. This included one set of twelve points from Ireland.
The most recent Lithuanian entry was due to be in 2020, when the cancelled Contest was due to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Roop were due to represent Lithuania with their entry “On Fire”.
This year, Lithuania will be represented by The Roop with their song “Discoteque”. Will The Roop take Lithuania to their first victory?
