Tonight see’s the continuation of Melodifestivalen – with all six shows this year coming from Stockholm, with no audience. For Semi Final 4, Christer Bjorkman will be joined by Per Andersson and Pernilla Wahlgren for hosting duties – Christer will be joined by somebody different each week.
Join me, Richard, from 19:00 GMT/20:00 CET as we follow the fun and frolics that the Swedes have for us this year! Don’t forget to refresh the page to get the up-to-date comments!
Refresh From 19:00 GMT/20:00 CET
Good Evening! Pernilla welcomes us at the piano, before joining some dancers. Per then breaks through a paper screen to join in the fun. After the titles roll, Per and Pernilla seem very excited to be here as they begin introducing the proceedings. As always, Christer goes through the voting procedures, before introducing tonight’s entrants,
Tess Merkel – “Good Life”
This week’s postcards take the form of a talk show. Tess is used to the Melodifestivalen stage after competing with Alcazar. Well Tess is wearing a very pink plastic-esque top, with pink & red lighting. It’s upbeat, it’s very Alcazar. One for the discos for year’s too come – but has it done enough?
Lovad – “Allting är precis likadant”
Lovad performs the first of tonight’s Swedish language entries. Lovad is in a white lace dress. She kissed standing is a dry ice mist, A contemporary dancer joins her onstage. The lighting, like the song, is all very plain. The microphone stand is covered in many white roses.
Efraim Leo – “Best of Me”
Do we spy a debutant? Dressed in black and white, with similar lighting, Efraim is delivering a performance with mid to uptempo sounds. His backing dancers are dressed similar to him. Good connectivity, Efraim deserves to progress in this year’s competition.
The Mamas – “In the Middle”
It’s last year’s winners, before the Eurovision Song Contest was cancelled. The Mamas are dressed in their traditional sparkly black, before a quick costume change sees a sparkly gold. They’re out to win this competition again – with their moves, the gospel sound mixed with the uptempo.
Sannex – “All Inclusive”
For the UK readers, all I need to say CBeebies, for others, think about this year’s German entry. This does have the traditional Schlager about it, however it won’t be going anywhere in the voting – unless the youngsters grab their parents mobiles.
Clara Klingenström – “Behöver inte dig idag”
Clara is wearing a red sparkly number, playing a white electric guitar. While their is a slight country feel, their is also an uptempo feel to the second Swedish song of the evening. It’s a shame there is no audience, because Clara would have such a great connection with them. It should progress.
Eric Saade – “Every Minute”
It’s another returning Eurovision Song Contest act, yet vocally it is on and off. He is fully dressed in white. While onstage on his own, there is a nightclub feel about it. In the latter third, he is joined by a synchronised dancer. Sadly its messy. Will Eric be the surprise non-qualifier this year?
The voting has now opened. We are now treated to a recap of tonight’s entries. We are been treated to a Melodifestivalen look back from years gone by. We are now with a Swedish family. The voting (the first round) has closed.
Through to the second round of voting are: Tess Merkel, Lovad, Efraim Leo, The Mamas, Sannex, Clara Klingenström, Eric Saade. Lovad and Sannex have fallen at the first hurdle.
The second round of voting for the evening has opened. An innocent child called Oscar, joins Per and Pernilla for a comedic look at Melodifestivalen past. Tonight’s voting has now closed.
We are now looking at Melodifestivalen house parties of many styles. The results are in, here we go!!!
First direct to the Final is: Eric Saade – “Every Minute”
Through to Andra Chansen are: Efraim Leo – “Best of Me” & Clara Klingenström – “Behöver inte dig idag”
