Krakow and the Tauron Arena was always going to host the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the surprise announcement of Warsaw as host during Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light took many by surprise.

Konrad Smuga, the Creative Director of the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, confirmed this:

“We confirm, absolutely. There were four scenarios – scenario A, B, C and D. We did scenario C for obvious reasons. But yes, in the first ideas, the Junior Eurovision 2020 competition was to be held in Krakow, in Tauron Arena. That’s the truth.”
