Over the course of November and on the lead up to the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that have participated at the Contest. Today, we celebrate Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan debuted at the Contest in 2018, in Minsk, Belarus. Daneliya Tuleshova finished in sixth place with her entry “Ózińe sen”, scoring 171 points.
The most successful and most recent entry from Kazakhstan was in 2019, when the Contest took place in Gliwice, Poland. Yerzhan Maksim finished in second place with his entry “Armanyńnan qalma”, scoring 227 points. This included seven sets of twelve points – from Belarus, Georgia, Poland, Serbia, The Netherlands, Ukraine and Wales.
Following his rehearsal in Gliwice last year, I had a chance to speak to Yerzhan Maksim:
This year, Kazakhstan will be represented by Karabat Bashanova with her song “Forever”. Will Karabat take Kazakhstan to their first victory?
