Two days ago, Wales withdrew from this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest, after two years of participation in place of the United Kingdom. Now the BBC have revealed they have yet to make a decision on Warsaw.
An unnamed BBC spokesperson had the following to say:
“The decision has simply not been made quite yet. The best advice I could offer for now would be to keep an eye on the official Junior Eurovision website or our own BBC Media Centre website for updates on this. I assure you once a decision has been reached it will be posted on these sites.”
We can assume and it is only an assumption, by mentioning both the official Junior Eurovision Song Contest website, as well as their own Media Centre, the BBC are seriously looking at participation.
If the BBC did take part this year, it would be the first time all of the Big Five would be present at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest all at the same time.
ITV took the United Kingdom to the first three Contests, before withdrawing ahead of 2006. S4C took Wales to the Contest for the past two years, with the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 not interested in participation.
