#THE REAL ME: Eurovision Memories from Dermot Manning
We at Eurovision Ireland want to hear from you. Is there a song that really means something to you? Something that made you really fall in love with Eurovision? Something that you associate with a particular event in your life? In our ‘Real Me’ articles, we get to the root of why we can’t get enough of Eurovision.
Today we hear from Dermot Manning…
The Eurovision song that means something to me is Un banc, un arbre, une rue – Monaco 1971. This is my favourite winning song for all time. It won the first contest staged in my home town; the performance by Séverine was extraordinary, and with tiny Monaco winning it proved that Eurovision is not about the size or importance of your country – it’s always about having the best song on the night.
