During an online press conference with BTRC, Jon Ola Sand was asked whether Kazakhstan could take part at the Eurovision Song Contest. He had the following to say:
“We should discuss whether we should be able to bring Kazakhstan, our Associate Member in Kazakhstan, to Eurovision Song Contest, but this is part of the broader discussion that we have at EBU, so I hope I can get back with more information later.”
This is a change in heart, when the EBU published the following statement:
“We have No Plans to invite Kazakhstan to Eurovision 2019.”
Whether this change of heart is linked to the potential success Kazakhstan is facing in Minsk, this is yet to be determined.
