We have some good news and some bad news surrounding participation at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest today.
Malta have confirmed their continuing participation since returning to the Contest back in 2013. Unlike the previous few years, the song will be selected alongside the singer – therefore the song will not be selected separately in an internal selection this year. On the 3rd August, the sixteen finalists will be revealed, before the National Final is televised at some point during September.
Last year in Tbilisi, Gianluca Cilia represented Malta with his entry “Dawra Tond”, finishing in 9th place and 107 points.
Cyprus have announced today that they are withdrawing from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. At this point in time however, no reason has been given for the reasoning behind the withdrawal.
Last year in Tbilisi, Nicole Nicolaou represented Cyprus with her entry “I Wanna Be A Star”, finishing in 16th place and 45 points.
