Today saw the first rehearsals for Eurovision 2018 start at the Altice Arena in the Portuguese capital Lisbon, much to the excitement of fans around the globe. However, these events have been somewhat overshadowed by the aftermath of one rehearsal that saw a contestant hospitalised.
Mikolas Josef, who is singing “Lie To Me” for the Czech Republic injured himself during an acrobatic segment of his rehearsal. Some fans on social media noted the singer looked uncomfortable in photos taken during some of his energetic manoeuvres, though the singer seemed fine immediately afterwards.

Although when it first transpired Mikolas had hurt himself it was suspected to be a pulled muscle in his back, over the last few hours the situation seems to have gotten worse. According to Facebook page Eurovision Song Contest Czech Republic, the young singer is “seriously suspected” to have a prolapsed disc and was being admitted to hospital for an MRI. Indeed, in the last half hour Mikolas himself has taken to Instagram to confirm the extent of his injuries and to say that he is going into another hospital.
Mikolas, from all of us here at Eurovision Ireland we wish you all the best and hope you have speedy recovery.
