Within just over a week, we’ve gone from having half of Eurovision 2018 entries released to having all but 5 of them (with 2 more due later today, Russia and Macedonia!) Has this avalanche of new entries changed anything in the betting odds? You bet it has!
Here are the Top 10 contenders for Eurovision 2018 taken from Oddschecker.com below!
After last night’s leak, Israel has dethroned long-time bookies’ favourite Bulgaria, climbing from the middle ground in the odds to the top of the board. The majority of countries in the Top 10 remain the same as last week, though there has been a fair bit of movement too. Italy and Russia are out, while Belgium has risen to 9th. The Czech Republic has dipped somewhat from 2nd to 4th, while Finland has crashed from 4th to 10th. Interestingly, Sweden’s Melodifestivalen results last night haven’t affected the country’s placing in the betting odds, and it remains 6th.
We’re still waiting on the elusive Bulgarian entry, but if it’s anywhere near as good as the bookies think it’ll be, we’re in for a real treat! 😀
At the other end of the table, these countries are thought to have to the lowest odds of winning in Lisbon:
While there has been a great degree of movement in the Top 10, the bottom is seeing mostly the same countries leap-frogging over one another. Hungary are out of the Bottom 10 while San Marino, who had escaped this group last week have found themselves right at the bottom of the heap. Iceland and Switzerland are still milling around the lower end of the scale, while Montenegro has climbed to 37th from 42nd.
According to these collective odds, the scoreboard (ONLY for songs already chosen) looks something like this:
- Israel
- Estonia
- Czech Republic
