Earlier this evening, it was revealed by the European Broadcasting Union that this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Valetta after Destiny took Malta’s second victory in the contest in Sofia.
This year, the contest will be taking part on the afternoon of Sunday 20th November. This follows discussions with participating and non-participating broadcasters with the Reference Group, stating that the traditional Saturday evening time slot isn’t necessarily child friendly.
The remainder of the format changes will be announced in due course, although we already know the contest will take place from a number of locations in the Maltese capital. A Press Conference with the EBU and PBS will take place during Eurovision fortnight, in Stockholm, in May.
With the change in format, do you think we will see some new participating nations? Do you think any will withdraw? Let us know in the comments section below!
