Back in December, it was announced that pop/rock trio Highway would represent Montenegro in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. But who are Highway? Where are they from, and more importantly, do they have what it takes to make it big in Stockholm? We did some research and here’s what we found out:
Highway is made up of three male members: Marko Pesic, Peter Tosic, Bojan Jovović and Luke Vojvodic.
They come from Podgorica, in Montenegro. (No, I don’t know where that is either!)
They participated in X-Factor. Highway got their big break by competing last year in X-Factor Adria, (The Eastern European/Balkan version) where they lasted for six weeks and came fourth. This brought them to the attention of audiences in Montenegro and surrounding areas, who obviously liked what they saw and heard.
Since then, Highway have released their debut single ‘Sam’ which was well-received in their home country and beyond, making a sizeable dent in the charts and widening their fan-base to non-X-Factor audiences.
In December, the Eurovision committee in Montenegro selected Highway to represent their country at ESC2016. This clean-cut, slightly rough around the edges trio look like they are on the road to success. If they manage to secure a win, there will be no stopping them.
Looks aside, an important factor will be the quality of the chosen song and how the guys will perform it. This is still being kept under wraps for the moment until March 4th, but we promise that as soon as we hear it, we’ll share it with you. In the meantime, here’s a really nice track from them called Bar Na Kratko.
Will this be the third time in a row that Montenegro make the Grand Final at Eurovision?
