Nina Sublatti was our ‘Warrior’ at Eurovision 2015. She dazzled with her fierceness and stunning high-octane performance. She is back with a stunning and somewhat Gothic new song ‘Dark Desire’.
A brooding ballad with electronic vibes and a haunting viola courtesy of Giorgi Zagareli make this one of the more interesting songs to come from the Eurovision Class of 2015. Nina’s powerful vocals set against a stripped back musical backdrop is simply stunning. Melancholy never looked or sounded so good.
The video is stark black and white to match the dark echoes of the song. The video is shot under water and we see Nina locked in her ‘Dark Desire’ of a world that almost looks like a ballet of heartache.
Haunting, lonely and passionate at the same time, this is an amazing follow-up single from Eurovision and is an ocean away from ‘Warrior’ that we equally found engaging.
Marks out of 12 – It has to be a Douze Points as ‘Dark Desire’ is unique.
This comes as our very first ‘Recommendation of the Week’ for 2016.
