Spain have announced their 6 national finalists for Eurovision 2016 and what a good-looking bunch they are! Diversity comes in the style of music that they perform and with their international experience they bring to the table. So who have they got in the running?
Xuso Jones
Like many others Xuso began his career by posting videos on YouTube. The turning point in his career came courtesy of a viral video for the ‘Drive Thru’ in the McDonalds fast food restaurants. He is signed to Universal Music and has had a very successful career. He has opened for acts like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Jessie J.
Salvador Beltrán
Handsome Alert! Salvador is a 23 year-old singer songwriter from El Prat de Llobregat. He self-taught himself the guitar from an early age and then by posting on social media his version of the classic song ‘Imagine’, he garnered the attention of many. One such person who contacted him was Miguel Ángel Arenas ‘Capi’ who is the highly successful producer who has worked with acts like Los Pecos and the amazing Mecano. 2 albums and 7 singles later he now looks to represent Spain at Eurovision.
Maverick
He was a finalist of ‘The Voice’ in Spain this year and his handsome good looks and musical talent have seen him be extremely popular on Twitter today with Eurovision fans. He’s already signed to Universal Music Spain and has the album ’18+1′. He can sing, he can dance and he is easy on the eye – he’s a triple threat!
María Isabel
She gave Spain their last win at a Eurovision event when she won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest back in 2004. She is all grown up now and is a stunning singer. Twitter fans are already saying that her song “La vida sólo es una”, that was released on October 20th, should be her song for Eurovision 2016. Guess what – the song is 3 minutes long!
Electric Nana
Electric Nana (Madrid, 1987) is a singer-songwriter in pop and indie music. She rose to fame in 2011 as a songwriter and vocalist on the song ‘Lead The Way’, a song by Carlos Jean and Plan B. The song was included on the début album ‘To Life!’, composed entirely by Electric Nana and produced by Fernando Montesinos.
Barei
Last but by no means least is Barei. She was born in Madrid and has spent time in Miami where her musical style was influenced. She has 2 albums to her credit but has written for several other artists including Spain’s 2015 Eurovision contestant Edurne. Is this her time to shine on the International stage. Very interesting is that she has released the song ‘Throw The Dice’ on December 22nd. Coincidence?
There you have the six finalists. Very politically correct with 3 men and 3 women but more importantly 6 fresh and diverse sounding artists. The songs from the artists will be released over the coming days.
What artist are you looking forward to hearing their song the most?
