Germany will select their song for Eurovision 2015 on March 5th in the contest ‘Unser Song für Österreich’. NDR (German National Broadcaster) will again also use the ‘Wildcard’ selection process to find one new artist to enter the National Final where they will join 7 nationally known artists. If you remember Elaiza, who represented Germany at Eurovision 2014, came to the National final via this route.

Wildcard Selection Details

First the ‘Wildcard’ selection will take place. German singer Andreas Bourani launched the ‘Wildcard’ selection process in this call for all unsigned artists to send in a video of them performing either a cover version or an original song for consideration. The top 10 acts – as chosen by NDR – will then compete in a live show on February 19th that will be broadcast live from Hamburg’s nightclub ‘Grosse Freiheit 36’ on Thursday February 19 and will be broadcast live on NDR, eurovision.de and eurovision.tv. TV viewers will select one-act that will then join 7 other NDR selected artists to compete in the German National Final on March 5th.

‘Unser Song für Österreich’ Details

In January NDR will announce the Seven nationally known artists (who will ultimately join the wildcard winner) thus creating an 8 Act National Final in Hannover’s TUI Arena on March 5th. The ultimate winner of  ‘Unser Song für Österreich’ will be decided by the TV audience and will go on to represent Germany at Eurovision 2015 in Vienna.

You can purchase your tickets for the Grand Final taking place at the TUI Arena in Hannover HERE

Germany have won the Eurovision song contest on 2 occasions – Nicole in 1982 with the iconic ‘A Little Peace’ and then in 2010 with Lena and ‘Satellite’.
