The #ALSIceBucketChallenge has swept the world at the moment and it has now dunked some Eurovision stars – but Who? The #ALSIceBucketChallenge is a fund-raising challenge to help the ALS Association.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.

What is the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’? 

“The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice.”

This viral sensation, which has used the hash tag #IceBucketChallenge, has attracted thousands of followers, including Blue (UK 2011), Marco Mengoni (Italy 2013) and Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014).

Blue in turn have nominated British presenters Ant and Dec and reality star Joey Essex. Ruth Lorenzo in turn then nominated Eurovision Winner Conchita Wurst and former X-Factor judge Danni Minogue. Marco Mengoni has nominated fellow Italian stars  Fabio Fazio, Lorenzo Jovanotti Cherubini, Belen Rodriguez e Federica Pellegrini.
