Unconfirmed news from a reliable source that Cyprus will return to Eurovision next year after taking a year out this year due to financial reasons. They have been sadly missed especially by Greece but will be back with a National Final to choose their entry, details and dates to follow. The entry must be sung by a Cypriot but the composers can be from anywhere as long as there is at least one Cypriot in the team.

We at Eurovision Ireland are especially glad to see our friends from Cyprus return in what could prove to be a bumper year for number of participating countries competing.

Are you also glad to see Cyprus back in?

  3. Good news to hear of the return of Cyprus. No one likes seeing countries pull out for any reason. EUROVISION is at its best with maximum participation. Hope Europe loved our Jessica Mauboy. She did us proud! Hope this is one step towards Australia’s inclusion in the Contest. With modern technology, geography should no longer be a barrier. Would love to see us host. Imagine 100 000 people and Eurovision at the Melbourne Cricket Ground!

  4. Are Cypriot musicians from say the UK or anywhere, allowed to participate… should do this.

My hope is that Cyprus has an instantly strong Eurovision track… memorable on a first listening, which feels like qualifying material… and then…

  5. Woohoo ! If it were to be a returning contestant , I’d like Constantinos Christoforou – or better yet, a reformed ONE !
