We were all set for Kylie, Delta Goodrem or Crowded House. Ok revise my expectations – Danni Minogue, Angry Aderson or even Stefan Dennis. Australia will be sending Jessica Mauboy to grace the Interval act at the second semi final of Eurovision in Copenhagen. Hurrah…Sorry Jessica Who?

I am sure you are like me and had to do a little searching on the net to find out more about our Eurovision guest from “Down Under”. What one finds is very interesting. Starting like so many singers these days in a tv song contest, Jessica came to the public’s attention in Australian Idol where she was runner-up in 2006. As you can see from the above video the Aussies make you work for your place on the show by performing out in the desert! An album of her live performances from the show called aptly “The Journey” went to #4 in Australia.

Her first studio album “Been Waiting” peaked at #11 in Australia and gave Mauboy her first #1 single “Burn”. The album itself was the second highest selling Australian Album of 2009. Mauboy is an R&B singer and has collaborated with many of the world’s most successful rappers like Flo Rida, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris and Jay Sean.

Her second album “Get Em Girls” peaked at #6 in Australia and solidified her position as a leading R&B singer and ambassador for the Aboriginal community. Her third album “Beautiful” that was released last October has been her highest charting album to date – #3.

We have taken a liking to the song “Pop a Bottle – Fill Me Up” from her recent album. That will certainly be our anthem during the Semi Finals of Eurovision this year.

Mauboy has composed a song especially for Eurovision and she will be appearing as the Interval Act in Semi Final 2 on May 8th.

Just in case some of you were hoping for Stefan Denis to be at Eurovision. well here is a present for you. Enjoy

On second thoughts I think we just dodged a bullet! What was I thinking when I bought “Don’t It Make You Feel Good” way back in 1989!
