Over 6,000 Eurovision party goers will be heading to the wonderful “Eurovision Live Concert” in Setúbal, Portugal this weekend. This is the event’s 5th year – so “Happy Birthday” or “Feliz Aniversário Setúbal”.
The 3 day event begins this Thursday September 5th and will be the biggest in the festival’s history. From its beginning in 2009, the Setúbal “Eurovision Live Concert” has grown in size and popularity and has built its reputation of hosting one of Europe’s Best Eurovision events of the year.
Portuguese and European Eurovision stars take to the stage each year and 2013 promises to be the best.
- Thursday September 5th
This will be the opening night of the festival and will have a wonderful Portuguese flavor to the event. Performances will come from some of our favorite Eurovision singers from Portugal – including Anabela (1993 and a personal favorite), Vânia Fernandes (2008) or Filipa Sousa (2012).
There will also be performances from the Festival da Canção (Portuguese National Selection Show) – such as Piedade Fernandes, Liana, Ana Laíns or Carla Pires.
The show will be hosted by Natália Abreu and Marco Lopes and will be held in the Municipal Forum Luisa Todi in Setúbal.
- Friday September 6th
Again in the Municipal Forum Luisa Todi, the festivities on Friday have 2 very special elements. Firstly there will be performances from Chen Aharoni (Kdam Eurovision contestant 2011), who will perform many of his ballads that he is famed for. Sung in Hebrew – with a strong Middle East flavour – this will be highly entertaining. You will remember Chen’s song “Or” from the Israeli National Final in 2011. I was certain he was going to get the ticket to Düsseldorf. He will be joined on stage by Israel’s 2013 Eurovision representative Moran Mazor.
The second half of Friday’s show will be an evening with Vlad Miriţă, who is the handsome and talented opera/pop singer who brought Romania to the Eurovision Grand Final in 2008. He performed the song “Pe-o margine de lume” along with the stunning Nico.
- Saturday September 7th
Change of venue for the grand final of the festival. This time you will be in the Auditorium José Afonso. This will see performances from Vânia Fernandes, Moran Mazor and Vlad Miriţă (who have already sang on Thursday and Friday). However you will also have on Saturday night the pleasure of Alexandros Panayi (Cyprus, 1995 and 2000), Jalisse (Italy, 1997), Daniela Varela, the lead singer of Flor-de-Lis (Portugal, 2009), Buket Bengisu (Turkey, 2002), Birgitta Haukdal (Iceland, 2003), Roberto Bellarosa (Belgium, 2013) and finally our very own Ryan Dolan (Ireland, 2013).
This is going to be a fantastic event and should you want any further information, then you can find out more at the “Eurovision Live Concert” official Facebook Page here
Happy Birthday and good luck to the team at “Eurovision Live Concert” in Setúbal
