We are very sad to hear the news that Estonian Eurovision singer “Silvi Vrait” has died today. We have a special place for Silvi here at Eurovision Ireland, as it was in 1994 at Eurovision in Dublin, that Estonia made their Eurovision debut and Silvi was their singer with the charming song “Nagu Merelaine”
We remember seeing Silvi perform live in the then “Point Depot” that year at Eurovision. She may have only received 2 points on the night – courtesy of Greece – but the audience enjoyed her performance much more as you can hear. Silvi was a noted and respected singer in Estonia and was part of the “Singing Revolution” in Estonia.
She tragically was diagnosed with a brain tumor 2 months ago and died today. We offer our sympathies to Silvi’s family and Estonia for losing a talented woman too soon.
