IRELAND : Westlife’s Shane Filan Goes Eurovision

Shane Filan

Ireland’s former Westlife star Shane Filan goes Eurovision on us. Last night he took to the tv screens along with fellow Irish singer and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Daniel O’Donnell with a special performance.

Many over the years have hoped that the Westlife singer may try his hand at Eurovision. He has been favorite with the bookmakers on so may occasions to represent Ireland at Eurovision – SEE 2015 , 2014 and 2013

Last night seems to have sparked rumors again, as Filan performed on the opening show of Daniel O’Donnell’s new TV Series on RTE (Irish National Broadcaster). Furthermore Filan performed Ireland’s 1994 Eurovision Winning entry ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids’. You can watch it on the RTE Player HERE

With RTE still to finalize their plans for Eurovision 2016, the internet is heating up with Shane Filan speculation yet again. Two weeks with Shane Filan in Stockholm sounds rather nice to me! We’d certainly have a ‘World of Our Own’.

Filan’s second solo album ‘Right Here’ was released earlier this year and you can purchase it on iTunes HERE

He is currently in the Irish Top 10 charts with the charity song ‘When I Grow Up’ by AIMS featuring Shane Filan & Grace Lee.

‘When I Grow Up’ by The Association of Irish Musical Societies with Shane Filan & Grace Lee, is in aid of The Children’s Medical Research Foundation, Crumlin and The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and available globally on iTunes, Google Play and all digital stores now and on CD exclusively from HMV & Xtra-Vision in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Would you like to see Shane Filan represent Ireland at Eurovision 2016? Let us know and have your say.

  1. Its not going to happen, I know we all would love it to happen ( I REALLY would!!!) but its just not happening…If it is internal with the knowledge that this is RTE picking the act it will probably be an act that is doomed before it even gets started alas Three minutes to earth.

  2. HI Gareth, Yeah its obviously not open to songwriters this year to submit, after the brutal entries in recent years. I think RTE will just name the singer, and the song this time round. I think Shane Filan could do it as his solo career has really flopped

  3. I hate to disappoint Shane Filan fans but I have the Eurovision winner on my team and ironically enough..she was one of the backing vocals for Shane’s performance last night 😂😂 Bring on the Eurovision selection for Ireland 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
