#BIRTHDAY: 7 June – Parg from Armenia is 30

Do you wish some countries could win for the first time? Do you look at potential accommodation in that country, hoping you’ll be able to sample its food and culture? Or are you praying that [insert country here] will win. Again.

One country that has never won the big Eurovision is Armenia. I should add that they seem to know what they’re doing at the junior version. Anyway, in 2025 the people of Armenia sent Պարգ/Parg (né Պարգև Վարդանյան/Pargev Vardanian) with a song about surviving. Maybe it was how his country felt at that point in time. His energetic performance did get him to the Grand Final, and he’d not had time to change after servicing cars at the garage down the road. But I suspect he may have developed a bit of a following as a result of this performance.
