
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s May 5th:
Saturday 5th May 1990
On this day in 1990, the 35th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. Italy took victory with Toto Cutugno performing “Insieme: 1992” and 149 points.
Saturday 5th May 1984
On this day in 1984, the 29th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. Ireland returned, while Greece & Israel withdrew from the Contest. Sweden took victory with Herreys performing “Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley” and 145 points.
