The Sámi Grand Prix and Liet International will no longer co-operate – an agreement which has been in place since 2006.
Traditionally, the winner of the Sámi Grand Prix qualifies automatically for Liet International – however this will no longer happen. Sámi singers can still enter their entries, however an automatic qualification will no longer exist through a Song Contest. Ol Johan Gaup, Producer for Sámi Grand Prix, had the following to tell NRK:
“We are not satisfied with the event itself and the benefit Liet International has for the artists.”
