#JESC22: Five More Original Participating Countries Will Not Return In Yerevan

Five more countries will not be returning to the line-up at the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Yerevan, Armenia.

VRT, the Belgian flemish national broadcaster has confirmed they will not be returning to the Contest for the first time since 2012. A spokesperson for VRT, had the following to say:

“We will not be participating in the Junior Eurovision, a couple of years ago, Ketnet, our children’s channel, decided to change its focus and build a concept where the focus is on all the participants of our local competitions.

By withdrawing from the Junior Eurovision, we have more room to put the spotlight on all our children and attract a more diverse group of talented children.”

DR, the Danish national broadcaster has confirmed they will not be returning to the Contest for the first time since 2005. Whilst no new reasons were given for 2022, DR have previously stated the Contest doesn’t match its values.

LTV, the Latvian national broadcaster has confirmed they will not be returning to the Contest for the first time since 2011. No further comments have been provided by the broadcaster.

NRK, the Norwegian national broadcaster has confirmed they will not be returning to the Contest for the first time since 2005. No further comments have been provided by the broadcaster.

TVR, the Romanian national broadcaster has confirmed they will not be returning to the Contest for the first time since 2009. No further comments have been provided by the broadcaster.
