
#OBITUARY: Carlos do Carmo has died aged 81
Portuguese singer Carlos Manuel de Ascenção do Carmo de Almeida died on 1 January 2021 aged 81. He was widely known throughout Portugal as an exponent of the Fado tradition.
In 1976, he was selected by broadcaster RTP to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest in The Hague. He performed the song Uma flor de verde pinho (A green-pine flower), written by José Niza and Maluel Alegre. He finished 12th with 24 points. This included a maximum from France.
