Over the course of November and on the lead up to the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that have participated at the Contest. Today, we celebrate Poland.
Poland debuted at the inaugural Contest in 2003, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Katarzyna Żurawik finished in sixteenth and last place with her entry “Coś mnie nosi”, scoring 3 points.
The most successful entry from Poland was in both 2018 and 2019. In 2018, when the Contest took place in Minsk, Belarus, Roksana Wegiel finished in first place with her entry “Anyone I Want To Be”, scoring 215 points. This included one set of twelve points from France.
In 2019, which was also Poland’s most recent entry, when the Contest took place in Gliwice, Poland, Viki Gabor finished in first place with his entry “Superheroes”, scoring 278 points. This included two sets of twelve points – from Kazakhstan and Spain.
Following her rehearsal in Gliwice last year, John had a chance to speak to Viki Gabor:
This year, Poland will be represented by Alicja Tracz with her song “I’ll Be Standing”. Will Alicja take Poland to their third victory?
Join us tomorrow and throughout November, as we celebrate the countries that have participated at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
