News from Denmark today regarding their selection process to choose their entry for the 2020 Eurovision Song contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and to commemorate this , the Danes have taken a similar format to their neighbours Norway in that this year there will be three regional semi-finals, although these will be broadcast on the radio rather than TV with the Danish public voting one act from each semi final through to the televised Grand Final, which will be held in the Danish capital, Copenhagen on 7th March at the Royal arena . Two of the six eliminated songs will get another chance by being selected as ” wildcards “by a jury .
As in Norway, DR will also select 5 entries to go direct to the final and these will be revealed later . This means that overall, 10 acts will fight it out in Copenhagen for the Danish ticket to represent the country in Rotterdam in May .
The nine acts taking part in the radio semi finals are :
Jamie Talbot-Bye bye heaven
Kenny Duerland-Forget it all
Nick Jones-2am
SamSara-For you
BEN & TAN-Yes
Søren Okholm+Impossible Dreamers
Emil – Ville ønske jeg havde kendt dig
Mielou-We could be so beautiful
Sander Sanchez-Screens
You can find all 9 songs on DR’s website HERE
There will also be a return of a live orchestra in the Grand Final in Copenhagen.
Last year , Denmark were represented by Leonora with her song “Love is Forever, which involved her singing sat on a rather large chair ! She came a respectable 12th in the Grand Final in Tel Aviv.
What do you think of the semi finalists? Do you think Denmark have a potential winner among them?
