Today, the BBC officially confirmed the UK’s participation at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest, which is to be held in Rotterdam.
Furthermore, the BBC has confirmed a collaboration between BMG and BBC Studios to find next year’s Song and Artist(s). BBC Studios approached a number of record labels, before finally choosing BMG.
Controller of Entertainment Commissioning for the BBC, Kate Phillips, had the following to say:
“Our commitment to finding the right song has never been higher, and this collaboration with BMG, who have access to world class songwriters, is a genuinely exciting prospect. I am certain that together we can find the best song and artist possible for 2020.”
Does this mean an end to the National Final, Eurovision You Decide and the return of the Internal Selection in the UK? Only time will tell.
