The show begins with Juri Pootsmann from last year with a new song. Then he sits with Stig Rasta on guitar to reprise his song from last year. He has a large female choir on to help him along too. Very nice.
We are then introduced to the two hosts onstage to a big fanfare. We are now introduced to the artists as they come into the arena and into the green room which is right in the middle of the hall.
Song 1 – Liis Lemsalu – Keep Running
So no hanging about as 12 minutes in we have our first song. Keep running is a rousing song with a nice beat to it. Liis has a nice voice , strong and confident. This is fun bouncy and energetic so a good start to the final. Could well advance to the Superfinal.
Song 2 – Koit Toome and Laura – Verona
Now this is my personal favourite. Laura is in a lovely silver dress and starts alone on stage. Koot comes on in a dark jacket. This is a lovely song , great singing and chemistry and atmosphere. When it kicks into the beat it is very uplifting. This has to go to the Superfinal if not also to Kiev, this is potential top 10 at Eurovision.
Song 3 – Whogaux & Karl-Kristjan feat. Maian – Have You Now
Another male female duo on next. Karl wears a big black hat and starts off this mid tempo song Maian then comes on in a long floral dress. This is quite quirky and bouncy. The two singers do compliment each other quite well. The song is fine but doesn’t grab me as having the same potential to do really well.
Song 4 – Lenna Kuurmaa – Slingshot
Lenna is on stage with 5 dancers. This is a very dark dramatic performance. She is surrounded by the dancers who enhance the overall performance, lots of arm waving and synchronised movement here. Musically it is a good enough song with a good vocal from a veteran of Eurovision. She is then catapulted out into the audience in a swing, very dramatic. The poor girl cant seem to get down after it is done.
Song 5 – Daniel Levi – All I Need
Lots of darkness here only lit up by multiple laser lights, dark and blue. Daniel is wearing a dark suit too. A confident performance of a decent pop song. It seems the audience like him for sure. He won through to the final due to the televote. Nice vocals too but I don’t see this as a Superfinalist.
Song 6 – Elina Born – In or Out
Another veteran of Eurovision and one of the pre contest favourites. Elina sings another song written by Stig Rasta and its a lot different in style to what we have seen from them before. She is wearing what appears like a black leotard. She starts singing in a low vocal range. Then the song really kicks into gear, it has a big sax accompaniment and has hints of jazz energy to it. I am really starting to love this song. She also has a large white O onstage which she sits in mid performance, a polo mint if you like. A great performance and could well win tonight.
Song 7 – Ivo Linna – Suur loterii
From one Eurovision veteran we move onto another true veteran. Ivo was at Eurovision in the 90s and is very popular with the public. A very musical performance heavy on the piano. The song has a very 60’s feel to it. Yes it is a bit dated but a very melodic and enjoyable song which is easy on the ear. This might be the surprise package of the Final. Would not be surprised to see it in the Superfinal. A huge response from the crowd.
Song 8 – Rasmus Rändvee – This Love
Another edgy pop song from Rasmus. Interesting lighting and camera work in this song and it has a very rock/pop edge to it and stands out from all the others tonight. A confident performance vocally from Rasmus could see this stand a chance tonight too.
Song 9 – Ariadne – Feel Me Now
An electronic sounding song here from Adaidne. A nice sound to it and a strong vocal. Lots of good visuals on the backdrop and another contender makes for a very interesting race to the Superfinal.
Song 10 -Kerli – Spirit Animal
Kerli with a very upbeat anthemic song is on a platform with her dancers. There are lots of drums on stage and this has lots of energy to it. Lots of smoke and all wearing white costumes. Certainly a lively performance making it the 5th song I think has a chance of the Superfinal. Its going to be a hard choice for the juries and public tonight.
So we have heard all of the songs and we will go to a 35 minute break in the program until we come back to the results show. So come back soon to see who gets to the Superfinal and then ultimately who will go to Kiev for Estonia.
My prediction to go to the Superfinal is Koit Toome and Laura, Elina Born and Ivo Linna.
But if either Liis Lemsalu, Rasmus Randvee, Kerli or Ariadne got through I would also be happy. So 7 out of 10 songs that I would happy enough with.
We are back for the results show in Tallinn. After a recap of the songs there is still 15 minutes for the televote.
But now we have the jury result. Mans gives 8 to Rasmus , 10 to Whogaux and 12 to Kerli.
Toomas gives 8 to Koit and Laura 10 to Kerli and 12 to Ivo
Julia gives 8 to Kerli 10 to Elina and 12 to Koit and Laura
Harri give 8 to Liis 10 to Kerli and 12 to Lenna
Marju gives 8 to Ivo 10 to Lenna and 12 to Koit and Laura
Valner gives 8 to Ivo 10 to Kerli and 12 to Whogaux
Henry gives 8 to Whogaux 10 to Kerli and 12 to Araidne
The top 3 at the moment are Kerli, Koit Toome and Laura and then Lenna Kuurmaa.
We have another run through with about 6 minutes till the televote closes.
Siim gives 8 to Rasmus and 10 to Daniel and 12 to Adraidne
Piret gives 8 to Lenna 10 to Rasmus and 12 to Kerli.
Alon gives 8 to Whogaux 10 to Kerli and 12 to Rasmus
Poli gives 8 to Liis 10 to Whogaux and 12 to Rasmus
Crazy voting indeed. The voting is now closed.
Kerli still leads but Lenna and Koit Toome and Laura have fallen away to be replaced by Rasmus and Whogaux.
So we come to the result of the Superfinalists. Elina Born was bottom of televote then Daniel Levi then Lenna.
Then it was Liis then Ariadne. Ivo Linna was next.
Kerli is in the Superfinal. Koit Tooma and Laura are in the Superfinal. Rasmus Randvee is in the Superfinal.
We have another televote now and meanwhile Mans Zermelow sings for us. It is his new song Glorious.
WE then have the boyband Beyond Beyond for us to enjoy.
Rasmus came third. The winner is Koit Toome and Laura with Verona. Kerli came second.
Congratulations to Koit Toome and Laura for returning to Eurovision and it was my overwhelming favourite so very happy here. Thanks and good night. See you Kiev.
