Manga brought Turkey to 2nd place at Eurovision in 2010 and with the recent release of their new song ‘Parti’, they certainly make us think just how much we miss Turkey at Eurovision.

Manga exploded onto the stage at Eurovision 2010 with ‘We Could Be The Same’. Extremely popular and winners of MTV Europe awards – the band have recently released their new song ‘Parti’ or ‘Party’.

The song is a classic mix of rock and electro pop music – something that the band do so well. The song has a great 80’s vibe to it with electro beats that jolt memories of Depeche Mode and Erasure but then have a contemporary sound with the electric guitar and authentic rock band sound elements.

The video is set on a beach and looks like it is straight from a video campaign for a new fragrance from ‘Calvin Klein’. Sexy and simple the guys have struck the right chord with both the song and video for ‘Parti’.

One cannot help but feel saddened at seeing such a great song released by a former Turkish Eurovision entrant as it serves to remind us how much we miss the country at the contest. Whether it is a pop, rock or traditional music – Turkey had delivered great songs to Eurovision and the fortunes for the country at Eurovision had changed dramatically at the contest from 1997 onwards when they placed 3rd in Dublin with personally one of my favourite songs at Eurovision – ‘Dinle’.

Might we see Turkey back at Eurovision? Well with the second edition of Turkvision all set to take place later this year it is not looking so certain. We certainly miss them at the contest and would dearly like to see them return.

As for Manga’s ‘Parti’ – We love it and make it our recommendation of the week. The song comes from their album ‘Işıkları Söndürseler Bile’ that was released in April of this year. You can download it HERE

Points out of 12 – It has to be 12 Points for ‘Parti’ from Manga.

Would you like to see Turkey back at Eurovision?
