The Annual Barbara Dex Award for the worst dressed artist/band at Eurovision has been awarded. The winner by some margin was Vilija Matačiūnaitė from Lithuania. However I personally can say that this is a travesty as I know I am not the only person who had to take a second glance at her male dancer who was rather fetching in his tight leather/rubber trousers #JustSaying.

I for one think that Emma Marrone from Italy was robbed as she proved that Italian style is not always the best way to go! With her leafed crown that was more that of thorns than fashion, plus a dress that even Donatella Versace would not be seen dead in (and let’s face it that is some statement to make) it was just not the right ensemble to be rolling around the stage in. Please see exhibit 1 your Honour!

Trust me I saw way too much in some of her rehearsals that I still have nightmares. So “Attention” people – you may have voted for Lithuania to win the Barbara Dex Award for Eurovision 2014 but Italy were seriously robbed.

  1. SORRY EUROVISION IRELAND, I DON’T THINK ITALY WAS ROBBED, CONTRARY HAD THE BEST DRESS, DESIGNED FROM EMERGENT STYSLIST OF ITALY – STEFANO DE LELLIS -. THE DRESS WAS PROPERLY DESIGNED FOR HER, WITH SWAROSKY DIAMONDS. THERE ARE 221 POINTS OF DISTANCE FROM THE WINNER. I THINK THAT YOU ARE JUST JELOUS OF EMMA.

    GO EMMAAAAA

PS: I DON’ T THINK THIS AWARD IS SO CONSTRUCTIVE…

    • Hi Picho – I have been a long time fan of Emma and really felt that her song and performance at Eurovision are not a representation of her and her talent. She deserved a better song and dress – sorry 😦

  2. I’m sorry to say that I think Ireland should have come much higher on this list ! One of the reasons that Kasey didn’t make it to the final (allthough it was one of my favourites to begin with!), was the staging. Her dress was maybe beautiful but WAY to tight for her !
The song was excellent in itself and her failure had also nothing to do with it being to “irish” or not modern enough in my opinion (I liked the dancers and the fiddler very much, allthough they were a bit lost on the stage).
No, it was the overall performance and her singing that was just not good enough at all.
So the discussion about the irish selection-procedure has in my opinion nothing to do with this! You can select an artist by national final or by internal selection, with or without mentor, if the song is brought on stage badly then that makes no difference, don’t you agree?
