AZERBAIJAN – Wednesday night Azerbaijan broadcast the THIRD show in their Eurovision 2014 Selection process – Böyük Sehne. You can watch it here.

Again we had the same format where the 5 judges voted on each of the acts.

Notable performances included Mehmet Kose’s performance of Hadise’s Turkish entry from 2009 “Dum Tek Tek”. He certainly brought the male “Biker Belly Dancer” to the show.

Next there was Lale Sultanli who sang Rihanna’s Russian Roulette with some heavy breathing at the start. Did she get though?

We then had a performance from Ayshebeyim Naghiyeva who is one of the reported finalists.

After some more lady Gaga – she seems to be popular in Azerbaijan – we were back to another of the reported finalists Samira Efendiyev. She treated us to “All By Myself”. The host then asked her to do some flamenco dancing  – how random – but it worked as she got a perfect score of 10 from all the judges. One Act to keep your eye on we think!

Azerbaijan’s Amy Whinehouse Tribute Act was up next – aka Ceya Rustemova. Some people bring props on stage for their performance. You know a casual cane or a mike stand, well Ceya took a man on his mobile phone to her audition! It takes all sorts.

Ceya’s time was short-lived in the spotlight as the next act Emil Huseynzada brought a tango couple with him. Despite looking like a snooker player in his waistcoat and bow tie, he was able to bust a few moves himself.

Time then for another reported finalist Aydin Eyvazzadeh. He is best described as quirky geek chic.

Another enjoyable episode of Böyük Sehne. Only 2 more to go before the announcement of the official finalists.
