PORTUGAL – RTP (The Portuguese national broadcaster) has released the names of the 10 composers that have been invited to compete in the Festival da Cançao 2014 – the Portuguese National Selection for Eurovision 2014.

The 10 Invited Composers Are :

1. Marc Paelinck
2. Emanuel
3. Janvandijk
4.  Nuno Feist
5. Andrej Babic
6. Toze Santos (Perfume)
7.  Joao Matos/Vitor Antunes (Áurea)
8.  Ricardo Alfonso/Luis Fernando/Rui Fingers
9. Tiago Pais Dias(Amor Electro)
10. Joao So

The composer is also responsible for the selection of their artist as well as the composition of the song. The 10 acts will compete in the semi final on March 8th where 5 will progress to the Grand Final on March 15th. The outcome of the result will be based on 100% televote results.

You may recognise some of the composers selected?

Andrej Babic has had several songs across Europe over the years. He composed the Portuguese entry in 2008 (along with Carlos Coelho) performed by Vânia Fernandes – “Senhora do mar”

Another name you may recognise is Emanuel who composed Portugal’s entry at Eurovision 2007  – “Dança comigo” performed by Sabrina.
