Türkvizyon 2013 has been a mystery to many people who have only followed Eurovision. Details on who would be eligible for entry came last month with the formal opening ceremony of the contest – see here
Details have been announced on what countries/regions will be competing in the first ever Türkvizyon.
18 Acts will compete in the semi final on the 19th of December. 18 countries/regions will be competing for 12 Grand Final places that will take place on December 21st. The host city will be that of Eskisehir. The 18 countries/regions have been announced and they are as follows.
- FYR Macedonia
- Azerbaijan
- Bashkortostan (Russia)
- Bosnia-Herzegovina
- Chuvashia (Russia)
- Crimea (Ukraine)
- Georgia
- Kazakhstan
- Kyrguizistán
- Moldova
- Republic of Altai (Russia)
- Turkish Cypriot Republic (not formally recognized by the UN)
- Russia
- Tatarstan (Russia)
- Turkey
- Turkmenistan
- Ukraine
- Uzbekistan
Several of the participants are also competing at Eurovision. However the Broadcaster most cases are non EBU members and come from the private broadcasting sector. Several of the regions contesting the contest are regions from within Russia.
At this point the only artists that has been confirmed for the contest is that of “Emir & Frozen Camels” from Bosnia-Herzegovina. They are being sponsored by the private broadcaster Hayat. No date has been set for the release of their entry.
They are a good old-fashioned rock band and here is a song from their back catalog.

I wonder will Azerbaijan be putting in the same effort as they do for Eurovision? And I don’t mean song or production wise!
Technically they could put the same song in for both contests – that would be interesting
