The Belgian “Eurosong” national final will have 2 stages. The first 3 weeks will concentrate on selecting the 12 artists that will compete in the Grand Final. Week 4 will see the airing of the 12 songs that will be competing in the Belgian Selection.
The lucky 12 artists will compete in 3 semi finals and 6 will progress to the Grand Final.
Jef Martens, Piet Goddaer and two further experts (to be announced) will be selecting the artists and songs for the selection process. They are looking for experienced artists.
The dates for Eurosong 2014 will be as follows:
- February 2nd and 9th: Contestants will perform a Eurovision song where four acts will be chosen to progress to the Semi Finals on each broadcast.
- February 16th: Eight unsuccessful acts that didn’t qualify directly to the Semi Final, will perform a further Eurovision song on the live show where 4 acts will join the 8 acts in the Semi Final.
- February 23rd, March 2nd and March 9th: The 3 Semi Finals will take place where 2 acts will qualify from each show to the Grand Final.
- March 16th: The 6 Acts will contend the Eurosong Grand Final. The winner will be determined by a Jury/Public vote.
The success of “Love Kills” by Roberto Bellarosa has sparked a renewed interest in Eurovision in Belgium. The country has won the contest once in 1986 when Sandra Kim stormed to victory with “J’aime La Vie”.
