NPO, the governing body for Dutch public broadcasting, have removed their long-serving commentator, ahead of the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, in Burgas.
NOS, the Dutch broadcaster responsible for broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest, following the withdrawal of AVROTROS, held a “good and pleasant conversation ” with Cornald Maas on this topic, but ultimately they decided not to entrust him with commenting on the event again. Cornald Maas had the following to say:
“If it were up to me, I’d like to do it again. So I could say: I’ve had great success, I’ve done it with pleasure all these years and now I’ve had enough . However, NOS made a different decision. I actually understand them. After all, I’m the main face of AVROTROS. When AVROTROS withdraws for moral reasons, I understand that NOS, a station striving for neutrality and objectivity, also takes this into account.”
